A Celebration of Anna’s Life will be held at Noon Friday March 1, 2019 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery next to her husband Ray. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. till time of service at the funeral home.

Anna Mae Newman, 88, Robinson, IL passed away Monday February 25, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN.

Anna was born October 30, 1930 in Patton, Missouri. She was the daughter of Bernie and Lillie (Wright) Long. On January 15, 1946 she married Ray W. Newman who preceded her in death on June 10, 1976.

She was a homemaker and did housekeeping for many people in the area as well as the Arvin Motel in Robinson, IL. Anna was a member of the New Hebron Baptist Church. She worked from the time she got up in the morning until she went to bed at night. Anna was a “Great” cook and was known for her fried chicken, homemade chicken and noodles, cobblers and bread pudding. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and canning everything she could. She loved the time that she spent with her family.

Anna is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Ray “Butch” Newman and Tandee Wesley of Palestine, IL and Patrick J. and Karen Newman of Heathsville, IL; a daughter and son-in-law Anita and Ron Bachelor of Cedar Park, TX; eight grandchildren Annette Nevermann, Ronna Wilson, Nikki Craig, Joy Miller, Macie Newman, John Bachelor, Bradi Sumner and Martika Mullins; eighteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; a great-great-grandchild to be born in August 2019 as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Anna in death were her parents; husband; two children Carolyn Joy Newman age 2 and Michael Ray Newman age 20; three brothers Norman Long, J.W. Long and William Keith Tracy and two sisters Delores Medlin and Shirley Johnson
